Moving to Santa Barbara for the Summer
Hi all! It’s been about a week and a half since I moved to Santa Barbara for the summer! I am participating in an environmental film making program at UCSB. Throughout the summer, I’m going to learn how to construct, film, and edit a documentary about an environmental issue impacting the Santa Barbara area. I picked up my first film camera (Sony fs100) this past Monday and It was really interesting to learn about a completely new camera system. I can’t wait to begin filming with the rest of my crew.
Outside of the classroom, I’ve been doing a little exploring around the town of Isla Vista (IV as the locals say). One of my favorite things to do is jogging from my apartment along the ocean side to sands beach, a pretty sandy beach at the tip of IV. The winding path to the beach is lined with beautiful fields of wheat like grass, waving in the breeze. I can’t wait to do a photoshoot with my friends while they frolic through it. At the path’s end there is a rocky cliff that overlooks the ocean. I love admiring the surfers from the cliffside as they ride the waves into shore. As you descend down the sandy slope, beautiful wildflowers sprout from the sand dunes. I have yet to actually step foot in the ocean, but I want to try and go this weekend
I hope you all have been having amazing summer adventures so far! Comment below and let me know what you’ve been up to this summer!
