New York City couples, listen up as we jump into the PERFECT timeless wedding day in Long Island! Allison and Vaughan’s wedding on July 29, 2023 unfolded into a day filled with joy, sweet moments, and a whole lot of fun. As a documentary wedding photographer based in New York City, I had the privilege of capturing every authentic detail of this love-filled affair!
The Rehearsal Dinner
The festivities began the night before with the rehearsal dinner, where I had the opportunity to meet Allison, Vaughan, and their lively circle of friends and family! The anticipation and excitement for the upcoming day were palpable, setting the stage for a wedding filled with love and laughter. I loved getting to meet all of Allison and Vaughan’s closest friends and family members the night before and had such a blast hearing all about how excited they were for the wedding!
Let’s Get Married
Allison and Vaughan started their day separately, surrounded by their loved ones. The first look between Allison and her dad marked one of the most tender moments of 2023 that I witnessed, showcasing the deep emotional connections that would be a theme throughout the day.
Bourne Mansion, with its vintage, timeless, and historic charm, served as the perfect backdrop for the wedding. This spacious venue allowed for a large guest list, accommodating everyone who wanted to witness the union of these two life-of-the-party individuals, which was perfect, because these two had a big group of people surrounding them for their big day!
First Looks and Ceremony
They opted for a first look at the venue, creating a romantic and sweet moment in the summer heat. There was a nice breeze to keep Allison and Vaughn in the moment as long as they wanted without getting too hot. It’s like the weather knew they wanted that time together! The outdoor ceremony featured a friend officiating, live musicians, and readings from close friends, adding an elegant and classic touch. Allison and Vaughan walked down the long aisle with both of their parents, a sweet and unique touch that set the tone for the heartfelt ceremony.
During the vows, Allison’s candid and personalized response after asking if she takes Vaughn to be her husband added an intimate touch to the ceremony, making it uniquely theirs. When asked, she said, “hell yeah, brother!” The genuine moments of emotion and connection during the ceremony were a true reflection of the couple’s authenticity.
Cocktail Hour and Reception
The celebration continued with a lively cocktail hour and reception, where the couple showcased their talent for throwing a fantastic party. The Barnstorm Wedding Band brought the house down, playing tunes that resonated with the couple and their guests. Allison’s mom, a Bruce Springsteen fan, had the time of her life, adding a special touch to the festivities.
Allison’s dress change for the reception was perfect for hitting the dance floor, reflecting the couple’s desire to have a good time. The energy throughout the day remained warm and sweet, creating an atmosphere of love and celebration that will be remembered for years to come.
Hiring a Documentary Wedding Photographer
The day was filled with special moments, from tears to laughter and candid, unposed instances that made it ideal for a documentary wedding photographer. Allison and Vaughan wanted their day to be real and not overly curated, leaving ample time for everyone to savor each moment without feeling rushed.
Allison and Vaughan’s wedding was a testament to the power of love, laughter, and genuine connections.
